Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I register with MyCareerDepot?
We have developed many features for both job seekers and employers, that will enable you to better review the qualities of a candidate, or the culture of an employer before valuable time is invested in phone or personal meeting time.
For job seekers, we have developed a "homepage admin" area that you can track all of your job searching activity into different organized folders for reference.
Folders such as:
My Applications - to track where you have applied
Saved Searches - Key searches that deliver the most current data
Saved Jobs - For when you have interest in an advertized job, but want to research it later
Resume Views - This is a great one...We will track for you exactly which employers have viewed your profile
Job seekers are able to create complete "profiles" of their experiences, including photo and a video "Introduction" if they prefer. You can add as much or as little information as you wish.
Profiles have a unique portable URL assigned to them, enabling you to post your URL on any word document. A potential employer does not need to be registered with this site to review your profile, if you send it to them.
How can I register my Resume?
To post your Resume at MCD, click on the ‘Post Resume’ link given on the Home Page. The link takes you to the first step of detailing your registration and professional details. This process creates your default profile that will be displayed to employers if you choose to apply to their jobs. Although completing all data is not required, it is recommended. It enables you to present to potential employers a resume profile that details many more qualities that you have to offer, as opposed to only a resume.
What if my City is not listed?
Then let's get your city on the map! Simply send us an email via the "contact us" tab on the bottom of the page, and request your city to be added. We will send you a confirmation so that you can update your profile right away.
How can I update/edit my Profile?
Once you have logged in to your account, you are taken to your control panel which manages your active Profile. To edit the same, click on the ‘Preview and Update Profile’ link. This lets you make the necessary changes or updates in your Profile by editing the relevant sections. It is recommended that you update your Profile regularly.
What is the cost?
There is never a fee to register with the site, or to take advantage of the various uploads. The upload limits are designed to keep the site free, however some may wish for greater video time, which will become available at a modest cost in future updates.
Photo / Logo upload requirements?
When you are ready to upload a photo or a logo to your profile, please resize as follows: Logo - GIF sized to 135x40 pixels Photo - JPEG sized to 172x172 If you have problems with re-sizing your logo or photo, upload what you have (it will look somewhat distorted and grainy) and email the support center. One of our developers will pull your file and resize to fit for you. This may take a day or two.
Can I report offensive content?
Absolutely! We have designed MyCareerDepot to be a clean safe environment for all. If you see any offensive material on this site, please email us at support@MyCareerDepot.com and any objectional material will be removed.

What is the simplest way to capture my video?
Most users will elect to use a web cam, or their own digital camera.

Can I store multiple videos in my profile?
Currently, only one video can be saved.

I am ready to record...What should I say?
Keep it simple. Your goal is to introduce yourself only. This is not a video resume, just a brief overview of who you are. Practice your script until you have it down to about 30 seconds. Relax, smile, and just have fun!

If I do not like my video, can I replace it?
Sure! You can delete and re-submit your video as many times as it takes until you are satisfied with it.
